Art Market

Go Home Lake Art Market is back!

After a three year pause, the Art Market is back and we have 16 artisans/vendors ready to show and sell you their creations on Saturday August 19 (rain date August 20) from 11am to 3pm on the Regatta Beach.

Go Home Lake and art have a rich history. It has been the source of artistic inspiration for generations. The idea behind a Go Home Lake Art Market emerged in an effort to find a way to celebrate this and to create a stage for the artwork created because of Go Home Lake, by Go Home Lakers, to stand on.  And so the spring of 2018 marked the first whisperings of a GHL Art Market.

As the weeks rolled on the whisperings became much louder and news of this new event began to spread into the bays of Go Home. Jenna Stewart (Dukelow) and Jackie Saik, the two ladies responsible for the Art Market in 2018 and 2019, simply wanted to bring together artisans of Go Home Lake to celebrate art, community and the lake itself. The end result far surpassed any of their expectations. The boats spilled in in droves from all corners of the lake, lining the beach and forcing latecomers to float in the bay and wait their turn to steal a piece of the beach for themselves. The pavilion was standing room only, shoulder to shoulder for over three hours. As Lakers flowed passed vendor tables the over whelming response from them was one of awe, inspiration and pride in their Go Home Family. It was truly remarkable how the community of Go Home Lake responded to this event.

After a pause due to Covid-19, the Go Home Lake Cottage Owners Association is proud to present this event. We invite all to come out and support the wonderful participants of this year’s show. Please scroll down to see some information about who will be at the market and get ready shop on August 19!

Go Home Lakers will recognize the inspiration for a lot of my landscape art! Clouds. Sky. Light. Water. Trees. If you kayak or hike with me, be prepared to wait – something will catch my eye, and I pull out my camera to record it. Then through the quieter winter, you will find me in my Toronto studio, putting those inspirations on canvas!  I primarily paint in oil, but at the cottage I use acrylic and watercolour as it is quicker to dry and my space is smaller! I have had the pleasure of meeting a number of GHLers who have commissioned me to paint a favorite lake scene, or a view of their cottage home. I love sitting on the dock with clients, and hearing about the family cottage – then I paint that energy and those stories onto the canvas. If you don’t see something that captures your heart at the Art Market, please feel free to reach out through the year. I started my home business 7 years ago doing t-shirts with my Cricut and a heat press.
I have come a long way in 7 years. In 2021 I ventured into sublimation. This allowed me
to make personalized items with amazing color and detail. The tea towels, ornaments,
key chains, and personalized slate photos were a hit.
This year I found my new passion “My laser cutter”.
The laser can cut and /or engrave everything from wood, glass, acrylic, and stone, among
other things I have yet to try.
I will have with me a variety of sublimated towels and key chains.
The laser crafts will include earrings, slate coasters, sun catchers, and signs.

Mudpuppy Art Studio

Treni & Bill Lang as MudPuppy Art Studio have been creating functional pottery and Raku art pieces for over 25 years. Much of their inspiration has come from their surrounding environment. Go Home Lake has been no exception, with its rocky shorelines, majestic pines and its abundance of wildlife to draw from.

Since purchasing in Four Seasons Bay, Bill & Treni have been inspired by the lake and its environment and have begun to incorporate this into their work. A loon on a mug or a landscape in Raku, the ideas are endless and growing, much like their love of Go home Lake and its community.

Gray’s Crochet Corner
My products consist of a large variety of crocheted items. My stock will include amigurumi toys, different fashion accessories, and keychains. To start off, my amigurumi animals are durable, cute stuffed animals that you could use as a toy or a decoration piece if you desire. Some of the ones I will be selling are elephants,  dachshunds, and triceratopses. Also, my stand will have different fashion accessories that will include market bags, earrings, scrunchies, and bandannas. Market bags are great to use around a craft market, as a beach bag, or at a grocery store. The earrings and bandannas will be shown in a variety of styles and colours in order to match your style. Finally, the keychains, whether you put them on your keys or bag, will make a cute addition to either! With mini bees, baby octopi, jellyfish and more you are sure to find something worthy of your keyring. All in all, I am sure that you will find something you like out of the amigurumi, fashion accessories, keychains, and more at Gray’s Crochet Corner this summer.

We have dubbed our homemade fire-starters “The Bonfire Starters”. My nickname is “The Bonfire” and my husband’s nickname is “Fire up”.
Very fitting we should help others to light their fires. Our youngest daughter Sadie, has been a strong support in the production of our little cups of fire. They are made from recycled materials- wood shavings from our workshop and recycled candles, these ingredients are carefully and firmly packed into the little cups by hand.  Once lit they burn for one hour without the need for kindling.
Start your wood stove and your campfire in minutes. Most importantly burn responsibly and wisely.

Chef and Bee Keeper
Michelle raises honeybees at her cottage on Go Home Lake.
The character of this honey is unique as the lake is itself. The bees of Go Home collect the nectar from strawberry, raspberry, blackberry and blueberry blossoms. It’s flavour is made complex by the sumac, swamp milkweed, vipers bugloss and joe pye weed and goldenrod that grow along the shores and roads surrounding the lake.
It’s a labour of love to care for honeybees at the cottage and Michelle welcomes visitors to tour her apiary and learn more about them.

The Founding of the Go HomeLake Art Market

Go Home Lake and art have a rich history. As already stated it has been the source of artistic inspiration for generations.

Jenna Stewart (Dukelow) and Jackie Saik, the two ladies responsible for its debut in August that same year, simply wanted to bring together artisans of Go Home Lake to celebrate art, community and the lake itself. The end result far surpassed any of their expectations.

With a line up of 19 incredibly talented vendors, varying across all genres of creation, they set up the Regatta beach with tables, chairs, and canopies on a dewy Sunday morning in August. Before the actual start time of 10am the lake began to show up.

Such a response speaks to that inexplicable ‘thing’ about the lake; the ‘thing’ that inspires us to paint, build, cook, grow, nourish; the ‘thing’ that unites us no matter where we come from or what our history is. It’s this ‘thing’ that drives us to create and it’s this ‘thing’ that unites our Go Home community. This ‘thing’ is whatever Go Home Lake does to our soul that you simply can’t explain with words. It creates a connection deep down in your core. Go Home Lakers have a place in their hearts meant for only each other. We all share that same feeling of knowing that a piece of our souls are forever a part of the trees and the lake. And it is this love and passion that made the first ever Go Home Lake Art Market a roaring success. Jenna and Jackie (The J-S Team) are beyond grateful for the Lakes support and cannot wait to continue to celebrate the inspiration Go Home Lake creates in so many of us.
