Invasive Species

Invasive Species

The Province of Ontario and FOCA (the Federation of Ontario Cottagers’ Associations) are very concerned about invasive species invading our lakes. Some invasive species include:

  • Aquatic plants like milfoil and others
  • Invasive fish including Asian Carp and others
  • Forest pests like Dutch Elm Disease, Asian Long Horned Beetle, Emerald Ash Borer and others
  • Invertebrates like Zebra Mussels and others
  • Plants such as phragmites, giant hog weed and others

FOCA performed an inspection of our lake trying to identify any invasive species. The resulting report can be viewed here:

If you see an invasive species in the area, you should report it immediately by contact the Invading Species Hotline 1-800-563-7711.

You can also download a smartphone app at: EDDMapS Ontario. This will have to identify and map the location of the species.
