Our cottage was at lot 101 on Go Home Lake.

Hello, everyone. My name is John Allt This is totally amazing!! As a three year old, I fondly remember coming to Go Home Lake via ” Go Home Lake Road” for a two month summer stay and boating from Potter’s Marina ( Later known as Potter’s Landing). Our lot was the first lot you came to on the left across from what is now, Go Home Lake Marina. My father ( Dr. William Allt) built our cottage from footings to A frame completion, sort of. Dad worked in Toronto with the Canadian Cancer Society. We came to Go Home Lake for summer vacations. We inadvertently learned a lot about wildlife. I could go on for quite a while but I’ll cut it short.

The highway was Highway 103 at that time and linked Cold Water to Mactier, Moon River and Parry Sound. There was a Regatta, held each year on Go Home Lake, in August at the park grounds just at the mouth of Pike’s Bay. During the week my family went on picnics there. Ahhh the good old days!!

I am 62 years old now, my parents have both passed away, but the memories live on. I am happy there’s more who enjoyed this awesome lake and area. I’d like to learn more of that time in history and see where my family fitted in. Unfortunately I haven’t any photos, my sister got them all at the Will Reading of my Mother.
Please feel free to email me if there’s other points of interest.

Thank you John Allt
